The unique sound of a guitar can be achieved with a great quality
amplifier and a well-chosen guitar Effects pedals. For instance if you
were to go to a music gig and were to see the guitarist achieving
incredible sound effects with his guitar, you may wonder he creates such
cool effects. It’s all down to the type of guitar effects pedal he is
using. A guitarist often uses effects pedals for altering the sound of
the strings in a particular way. There are various types of guitar
pedals like phasers, delays, wahs and Octave pedals. However you will
also find some boutique ranges like the hand wired analog as well as
mass-manufactured Japanese digital replicas which do a pretty decent job
at adjusting the tone of your guitar.
Getting the right tones
Guitar pedals are mainly used to enhance the sound of a guitar. If
you are a beginner and learning how to play a guitar, then choosing the
right guitar effects can be ancomplex, difficult and intimidating. Doing
a bit of research, experimenting and testing out the various types of
effectswill allow you to get a feel for the types of effects that best
suit your playing style.
You don’t need a complex setup of effects pedals in order to create
the variety of tones often used by the big names out there. Even just
experimenting with a standard Wah or delay pedal can create a
mesmerizing combination of lively sounds. Moreover if you use clean
tones andincreasethe volume of your amplifier and pickup selectors, you
can create more variety to your sound with just one or two pedals.
Sometimes the output of quality amplifiers and guitars canbe masked by
the use of too many pedals and they can become overkill.
However there are several guitar effects which have evolved as the
result of the experiments of famous guitarists. Some of these have given
birth to some unique pedal, rack mounted and inbuilt amplifier effects.
Stomp boxes are often focused on by the experts and differ from standard
effects pedals in their different types of foot-switches, often
designed for use in live performances. You will find thousands of
different stomp boxes and some of these pedals continue to be modified
by guitarists.
